Super super nervous.. omg.. took some relaxants and sleeping tablets that were offered to me.. i think I will be knocked out post surgery… Then begins the nightly process of a trio of eyes drops, lubricants, antibiotics, and a steroid. They also are giving some pain relief meds.. to really really knock me out if needed.. hopefully will “see” you on the other side clearly.
I am sure many of you will agree with me, if you heard anything that came out of Donald Trump mouth during Covid-19, it would be pure trash.
His recent statement about him taking hydroxychloroquine , a drug that was used to treat Malaria and now primarily for Rheumatoid Arthritis. His reasoning was that he believes it can ward off or prevent Coronavirus… Despite clinical trials still not proving this as effective, he decides to go against medical advice and to take it and to tell that to the public. I can only imagine how many people are going to follow in his footsteps and get their hands on some hydroxychloroquine and how many additional medication misadventures may happen as a result.
My question is, how did he even get his hands on some hydroxychloroquine? I am presuming in America you would still need a prescription for something like that? Shame on the doctor and the pharmacist that is providing that for him, especially for a off-label use that hasn’t even been shown to be effective. In my humble opinion, the benefits do not outweigh the risks for him to take it. It’s not even like Trump is on the front line (i.e. Health care worker) or has a high chance of being exposed to the virus. I dislike the way that he has basically contradicts whatever the advice from his advisers. Who put this clown in charge of America? Yes, he would make a great comedian, but NO he does not make a great president.
I wish someone would ban him from making any public statements, because everything he says is a joke. Sadly, some people take him seriously and have been seriously harmed.
God Bless America and May you get a real President soon 😦 (Just looked it up, next election seems to be on 3rd of Nov…Good luck until then)
My sister recently invited me to join this Facebook group: The Kindness Pandemic. It is basically a group that shares different acts of kindness that they have experienced while the Coronavirus is going around in the world. It is the much-needed positivity that we need at a time where the world as it seems has changed and become a more grey colour.
I also want to shout out to our local grocery chain, ‘Coles’, who have decided to open early on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Health Care workers! I am planning to go in the morning and suss out who the other health care workers around the neighbourhood are and I wonder if there will be a stampede of people waiting outside when it opens? Personally, I am trying to stay at home as much as possible after work. I am trying to limit my weekly visit to the supermarket once a week. Yes, it is a bit boring at times, BUT on the plus side, I am helping to stop the potential spread of the disease.
My mind-shift about this disease has rapidly changed over the last few weeks…I was a sceptic a while ago….when the disease was overseas in China, it felt so far away! People were dying, yes…But it seemed so far. But now, the disease is on shores…It has reached and it has spread as people spread throughout Australia. My parents took quick action, getting as many things they thought they would need if they were self-isolated in the home. I wouldn’t call them ‘hoarders’ as such, but people who are thinking ahead. My parents are well-informed about the situation in China and were around when SARS also happened. They have refrained from going outside unless absolutely necessary and their church was also very proactive in going ‘Online’ with meetings instead of meeting face to face. It is a lot more than the rest of the population who seem to disregard the seriousness of this pandemic.
I used to think, I am young, I can survive this disease…But then, I also have to think, who may I be spreading the disease to? My patients at work? My elderly aunts and uncles? My nephew? My parents? A pregnant lady? Who knows who could get the disease from me and how can I live with the guilt that I may have been responsible for spreading something. While it can be really tempting to make this an “All about me” thing, we have to remember its also all about keeping “them” safe too. Also, as a health care worker…we have to look after our own health so that we can look after others… Please be patient with us as it’s not our fault there are medication shortages due to people stockpiling their medications :(! There is no need to stockpile medications during this time! There won’t be a shortage if everyone just gets their usual supply…
On a side note, I went to post a package today at the post office and I was really pleased that they implemented a 1.5 Metre marked lines on the floor to indicate how far people were to stand from each other! It’s great when businesses implement these ideas to help STOP the spread of the disease. I have also noticed some shopping centres having installed more automatic alcohol gel dispensers…People at KFC drive-through were also wearing gloves and not accepting cash. I hope everyone is able to see the seriousness of this disease and ramp up hygiene measures to minimise the spread! Good job to those people! I believe we can all do our small part.
Stay safe and well,
P.S Wash your hands!
Sooo I had a blood test done a couple of weeks ago and I visited my GP (finally) to check the results. Not sure if Bad News or Good News, buttt I found the reason why I have been feeling so tired, lethargic, and gained weight lately. 😦 I suddenly put on 3 kg from last year! So apparently I have an Iron deficiency..no surprises there…given I rarely eat beef and prefer fish, chicken, and lotsa vegetables…plus I have been getting periods every three weeks instead of monthly…weird right??I also have something wrong with my thyroid stimulating hormone, I have too much of it…which means my body is low in thyroxine and is trying to restore it by excreting lots of hormones…or something like that.
sooo I have to do a few follow up things, repeat thyroid function test in one month…Follow up Iron test in 3 months…and an ultrasound to see if there’s is anything wrong internally that is causing the extra bleeds…
I really hope I get some answers soon, sometimes you just want to find out why you feel the way you feel…
I am grateful for things like blood tests, scans, and medications…to treat my iron deficiency there are easily accessible iron supplements that can be bought in pharmacies…and if I do need to take thyroxine tablets, those are also easily bought with a prescription and it is not too pricey to buy a packet of 200 -which lasts for about 6 months…
Feeling super grateful for the advancement of health and medicine that we can easily treat things that were never treated before…
Oh also on top of my existing health problems, I have had this rash..not sure what it is…query psoriasis, eczema, fungal (?), medication allergy? Not sure..but it’s been spreading around my body and I have kinda just left it…waiting to ask the doctor for her opinion, even though I suspected it to be fungal. Hopefully easily solved by some antifungal cream and some steroid.
I am not sure why I am writing all my personal problems here…but I felt the need to document it somewhere….why is my body going haywire all of the sudden?!!??
But anyway, as I said before…luckily there are treatments for these conditions…
And ladies and gentlemen, that is my life. Super tired from working two jobs and 13 days per fortnight…but I like the income. I guess everything comes with a cost. … xD
